A Goal for 2011.

I'm not a New Year's resolution type of gal.
I once tried to limit my popcorn intake to once a week and we all know where that resolution went.

In 2011, there will not be popcorn limitations.
I'm going to attempt something a little more realistic like stepping up my photography knowledge.
I'm going to snap up some pictures,
read a few photography books
and try to become one with a camera flash.

In December I was asked by friends if I could take pictures for their annual Christmas cards.

It always helps when the subjects are the prettiest
and most photogenic people ever,
but boy did I realize how much I really need to learn about getting the most out of my camera.

Not only was I happy they trusted my photo taking ablility but my family was happy the lens was off of them and focusing on someone else for a change.

Everybody was happy.

It also helped when the participants wanted to participate,
just like my little friend here.

The following photo wasn't part of a holiday greeting, just a moment caught in a hockey rink.
It really helped when the unsupecting
participant had zoned out everything
except what was right in front of him.

Sometimes those make the best shots.

Maybe in 2011 I will catch another mother and son sharing a happy moment like I did in 2010.

I've got a lot to learn about photography
but what I'm most excited about is the
big girl lens I was gifted from my family.

Sure, I can take shots like these of my
little guy with the lens I currently have,

but with the big boys I need something of higher caliber to keep up with their speed and all of the action on the other end of the ice.
I don't want to miss a thing.

2011, are you listening?
I'm going to continue where I left off in 2010
and I'm going to try to learn
a little more about photography in your duration,
all while munching on popcorn,
of course,
so let's make it a good one!

Did you make a resolution for 2011?

P.S.  Willing participants are always welcome.

  1. You're a natural! Good luck! :-)

  2. Lisa,
I plan on working on my photo skills too...with my new camera...I plan to take a few classes soon.

  3. oh my gosh, doesn't look like you need ANY work...those pictures are amazing! You captured great moments...definitely something you should consider, because I'd let you snap my family any time! Love ALL of them :)

  4. Hey girl! Wanted to let you know that you have a Stylish Blog Award on my blog. I love to read you! Have a great weekend

  5. Great pictures, Lisa!! So, you got your lens for Christmas?! Can't wait to see more shots!

  6. Really great pictures here Lisa! I can't take very good pics but I blame the camera most of the time. My New Years resolution is to re-organize my organization. My file cabinet needs to go away!

  7. Love this New Years resolution and you've got the talent to do it! Congratulations. The photos are beautiful!

How many kernels would you give this post? 1? 10?
