A Goal for 2011.

2011
I'm not a New Year's resolution type of gal.
I once tried to limit my popcorn intake to once a week and we all know where that resolution went.

In 2011, there will not be popcorn limitations.
I'm going to attempt something a little more realistic like stepping up my photography knowledge.
I'm going to snap up some pictures,
read a few photography books
and try to become one with a camera flash.

In December I was asked by friends if I could take pictures for their annual Christmas cards.

It always helps when the subjects are the prettiest
and most photogenic people ever,
but boy did I realize how much I really need to learn about getting the most out of my camera.

Not only was I happy they trusted my photo taking ablility but my family was happy the lens was off of them and focusing on someone else for a change.

Everybody was happy.

It also helped when the participants wanted to participate,
just like my little friend here.

The following photo wasn't part of a holiday greeting, just a moment caught in a hockey rink.
It really helped when the unsupecting
participant had zoned out everything
except what was right in front of him.

Sometimes those make the best shots.

Maybe in 2011 I will catch another mother and son sharing a happy moment like I did in 2010.

I've got a lot to learn about photography
but what I'm most excited about is the
big girl lens I was gifted from my family.

Sure, I can take shots like these of my
little guy with the lens I currently have,

but with the big boys I need something of higher caliber to keep up with their speed and all of the action on the other end of the ice.
I don't want to miss a thing.

2011, are you listening?
I'm going to continue where I left off in 2010
and I'm going to try to learn
a little more about photography in your duration,
all while munching on popcorn,
of course,
so let's make it a good one!

Did you make a resolution for 2011?

P.S.  Willing participants are always welcome.

  6. Really great pictures here Lisa! I can't take very good pics but I blame the camera most of the time. My New Years resolution is to re-organize my organization. My file cabinet needs to go away!
