Home Tour - Colorado Edition

My family and I recently visited Colorado.
The main purpose of our trip was to watch our oldest play hockey.
While we were there, we visited with local family and friends.
I'm sure, the fact that it was my birthday weekend made it all the more enjoyable
for all parties involved.
(I'm just sure of it.)

It was October and the trees,
with their leaves changing,
were a feast to my eyes,
and the weather,
perfection.

We stayed with my brother, sister-in-law and their young son
 in their fabulous mountain home.

To get a real Colorado experience,
you must take a tour of their home with me.

Their home sits 9,000 feet high
upon a mountain top
approximately 50 miles west of Denver.

What they don't know is that
I'm planning to book rooms for the
Popcorn Bed and Breakfast Retreat.

Imagine yourself,
relaxing high on a mountain,
surrounded by the Colorado pines,
and breathing in the fresh, crisp, cool,
 Colorado mountain air.

There is nothing like it.

Rosie will greet you at the front porch...

bring you into the living room,

where you can kick your feet up
and sit in front of the fireplace.

Each rock on the fireplace was handpicked
by my brother from a local river,
then built by him as well.

Something to appreciate.

Snow shoes and rug beaters hung on the wall
lend a rustic feel to the room,

as does the pie safe,
which will tempt you to pull out a blanket to snuggle under.

Go ahead,
I want you to be comfortable here at the
Popcorn Bed and Breakfast Retreat.

They pay attention to the details
with displays of earthy finds,
like this huge sunflower and wreath.
An old windmill piece hangs in the background.

Step into the cozy dining room.

Antique pieces are used for storage

and they all have a story to tell.

Next to the dining room is the kitchen.
I love the baskets hanging from the beams and the paper mache pumpkins,
which my sister-in-law crafted some years ago.

There are open plate shelves,

an old cabinet to hold glassware,

and even a little antique desk for their little guy.

My favorite feature in the kitchen
 is the antique replica stove.
I'm sure they won't mind fixing meals for their guests since
they are both excellent cooks.

I guarantee they use 95% all organic ingredients.
I know because I checked out the pantry.

Imagine a nice fresh, country breakfast made
with eggs you've gathered straight from the
"cage free" chickens
who reside in the barn.

They (chickens) eat 95% organic food too.
I know because my daughter checked.

This is Peanut,
their carriage pulling pony.
He resides in the barn too.

So what do you think?

Would you like to book a weekend at the
 Popcorn Bed and Breakfast Retreat?

Wait,
there's more.

Stay tuned for Part 2...
I'll take you upstairs where you can enjoy take in the view and
choose one of the rooms
in which you'll be staying in real soon.
And all for a low, low price.

So what if my brother and sister-in-law don't know a thing about this new venture?
Minor details.
