Thanksgiving Weekend.

 Thanksgiving weekend in pictures.

Travel companions.

Lucky numbers.

Pucks.

Tender moments.

Hotels.

Defining style,
in an "E" series.

Chicago as our backdrop.

No home cooked turkey.

No afternoon naps.

No Black Friday shopping.

All Thanksgiving weekends are not the same.

(I'm back home again,
and still thinking about that
"E" series.)

G.W. (Goodwill) - Before and After, Pedestal Table

I was at G.W. (Goodwill)
when
I spotted this table.

I passed her by on the first visit,
but thoughts of her never left my mind.

After a few day,
I succumbed to the voices in my head,
called my friend Susie,
(who lives near G.W.)
had her drop everything she was doing,
and sent her to purchase the table,
IF it was still available.

Not only did she buy the table,
she used a coupon.
(I run with a savvy crowd of shoppers.)

I brought my new purchase home
and introduced her to my backyard.
I like to refer to my backyard,
as my hi-tech,
spray paint/painting facility.

What I liked about her,
number one,
was her price,
$49.00,
after coupon.

Number two, her size.
40 inches in circumference.

Perfect for what I had in mind.

This pedestal table, from Pottery Barn,
was what I had on my mind.
But,
my mind could not wrap itself around the PB price tag.
$699.00

So,
enter the G.W. table.

There were some glass rings and water damage on her top
but once I went over her with the sander
she was good to go.

A good cleaning and two coats of black,
semi-gloss paint later....

She now resides in my living room
between two couches,
proudly displaying a lamp
and some accessories.

$49.00 (table) + 8.00 (paint) = $57.00

Those voices in my head know a good thing
when they see one.

Another Popcorn, "How To"

"How to"
have a good night of fun!

Invite some good friends.

A trio of Canadians is always a good start.

In this case,
a mother and her two daughter's.

Maybe,
invite a blonde or two.
It just depends how you're feeling
when you're sending out the invites.

For a little contrast,
add a green eyed,
red headed
gal.

Have some baked potato soup,
you made from scratch,
on hand.

Throw in a couple games of,

Left, Right, Center.

Don't forget the popcorn.

Or the prizes,
do not forget the prizes.

The green,
monetary kind is always a hit.

Or the decorative,
green kind is not so bad either.

Otherwise, why would they come over?

If they knew you were making these Whoopie Pies,
they'd definitely stop by.

Get the recipe HERE,

Whoopie Pies
and all of the above,
a night of good fun.

Guaranteed.

My Daily Affirmation

Welcome to my office...

I operate heavy machinery on a daily basis.

I've got task lighting,
a container for small office supplies,
an "in" basket,

and,
a custom made name plate,
I made myself.

I just want to make sure my associates
know who their dealing with.

My New Friend

Meet my new friend.

His name is Ross.

He's 5 years old.

He loves popsicles,

and eats them all night long.

He proudly showed me
his cell phone.
(non-working)

His mom warned me,

"Ross hates to take pictures."

I beg to differ.

With every friendship,
there's a common thread.

I think I found ours.

Pottery Barn Hockey Display Stand

I was looking through the Pottery Barn Teen catalog
when I saw this picture of a boy's bedroom dressed in hockey decor.

What caught my eye about this picture,
was the hockey player stand to the left of the bookshelves.

Hmmmm, how can I make one of those for my little hockey obsessed son?
I have 2 hockey obsessed son's but I had the younger one in mind.
I'd file this idea in a little cranny in my brain for later.

One day,
Guadalupe and the Cubana called,
they were at Goodwill(GW)
and I was in the neighborhood so I stopped in to see them.

While they were sitting around acting like they owned the place,
I saw this little coat stand.

You see where I'm going with this?

I paid $6.00 for it and brought it home to my hi-tech,
spray painting station.

I gave it a couple coats of black paint.

When it dryed,
I sent Carson out to find some of his outgrown hockey equipment.

Helmet, chest protector,
skates and a stick.

Smiling ear to ear,
he put it in his room,
added the equipment,
and displayed it like this.

Just like Pottery Barn,
only a lot less.

As for the Cubana...
she bought this frame for $.99.

If you take into account my price per use formula,
this frame has already paid for itself!

Gotta love GW,
and I'm just going to end it with this...
