Guess What Day It Is????

Today is my birthday!

I'm going to sit back,
enjoy the day and open my gifts.

You did remember to get me something, right?

I've already received a "Happy Birthday" phone call from my cousin Rose.

Thanks Rose,
it was great to hear your voice!

As for the rest of you,
I'll be waiting for the birthday greetings to come pouring in.

Thank you in advance.

Now,
this guest blogger thing has gotten out of hand.

Although Sheila handed my blog back to me on Monday,
I had a couple of latecomers in my inbox.

So,
since it is "my special day"
and the posts are all about me (oh stop),
I made an executive decision to post them.

The first post comes from my cousin, Rochelle.
You can read about her HERE.

The second post is from my Canadian friend,
Stephanie.

Thank you ladies for your kind words.

Happy Birthday, Mona!

With the help of my mom,
I was able to access some old pics that are sure to bring a smile to your face!

On the eve of your 29th bday,
I hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane.

In the first pic you're 9 mos. old -- a very significant 7 weeks younger than me, which no doubt accounts for my edge in maturity. ;)

The next two shots are from my second bday in 1969,
and boy,
aren't we the stylish lot of hooligans!

I think I deserve a lot of credit for graciously sharing my 3rd Birthday cake,
and apparently also sharing some lovely plastic bangles.
(I especially like this photo.)

Call me crazy,
but I think the next photo provides ample evidence that you're a bit too interested in the contents of my Easter basket.

It seems that you were a very opportunistic 3 1/2 year old when it came to jelly beans.

And finally,
in the last pic your Bonnie Bell hat makes an appearance at my 4th birthday party.

You always had to set yourself apart from the crowd, didn't you!

You can see that the fashion display by the Manassa crowd was on a high plateau in the early 70s!

(Little House on the Prairie meets The Grapes of Wrath. ha ha)

I've thoroughly enjoyed revisiting these adorable pictures and special memories.
Hope you and your blog aficionados will also enjoy this quick peek at our rural childhood.

And in case anyone had doubts...
these photos prove that your cuteness goes all the way back to at least 1968.

Lots of love,
(Your older and wiser) Cousin R

The Canadian says....

The American…
My mom took a photo of us together and named it the American and the Canadian.
We couldn’t be more opposite with our appearances…or our personalities.

Lisa has got to be the friendliest,
chattiest girl I have ever met.
I think one of my favorite things about her is she will talk to anyone.
Could be the regulars at Goodwill
or some lonely looking,
pale white girl at the rink…missing home…back in Sarnia, Ontario.

Not only will she just chat with them,
she will find out their name
and next thing you know they are the best of buds.
What would I have done without her over the last 8 years…
I don’t think it would have been ½ as wonderful.
If you ever need a chuckle,
just talk to her for 30 seconds
and you are set for the rest of the day.

I do love that girl.

The American and the Canadian.
