From the "other" Lisa......

Ahhhh……Lisa.... well , let’s see, what can I say? you know, where can I begin??

She’s the
real deal! Authentic as they come, and always looking for a good time!

I’m Lisa, her sister in law, aka: the ‘other’ Lisa. I have a great source for juicy tidbits about this lady (my husband, and her much older brother Joe).

Here’s one:

When Lisa was around 10 years old her mom and dad would go to Alamosa and often stop at Sonic. They would get home and Lisa would always ask, "where have you been?" "Where did you go?","What were you doing?" (Geez, what a nosey body!) They would just say, "oh, we just went to Alamosa". But that wasn’t a good enough answer for Lisa,

no -sir- ree. So there she’d go, out to the car only to find the Sonic wrappers and then it went something like this:

"You guys went to Sonic and you didn’t get me anything??!! "(followed by a tantrum appropriate for a ten year old)

**Imagine a photo here of Lisa at 10...which shouldn’t be hard to do because this girl just doesn’t change!

Wish I had more time and space because there are, no doubt, hundreds more stories to entertain us all.

Oh yes, one more thing...

Attention All Latinas! I have been informed by a reliable source, the existence of chameros.

Her brother tells me they did indeed use to come to the San Luis Valley from New Mexico, selling fruits and vegetables, and that the term chameros actually means ‘peddler’. I think Lisa would make a pretty good chamero herself, don’t you?

Congratulations to you, Lisa, on your Rookie year of popcorn..keep it popp'in!!

Hi Lisa ! The word "Chamero" relates to the name "our people" from our area refered to the fruit vendors from the small town of Chamita, N.M. (a few miles north of Espanola where peaches, apples and other fruit grow abundantly). These fruit vendors did travel to the San Luis Valley in south central Colorado to sell and sometimes trade their fruit for potatoes and other vegetables that grew here. Cousin Rose
