Pass The Popcorn Please

Yes, this is a "Popcorn" cake.

It's not exactly made out of popcorn but of chocolate cake.
3 layers of chocolate cake adorned with freshly popped popcorn.
Isn't she beautiful?
A work of art.

I had this cake idea hidden in my memory bank for quite some time.
I have been patiently awaiting for the perfect moment
when she would step out and wow the world.
(Or at least a couple of friends.)
So when the Girl's Trip Ambassador
sent out a food list and assigned me to bring dessert,
I knew this would be the perfect moment.

When I called the bakery,
I was giddy with excitement,
knowing that this would be her debut.

After dinner, on the first night of our weekend retreat, I presented her to the ladies.

There were cheers, laughter, applause (okay, that was me) and happiness.
Who'd thought that a cake of this sort would bring such jubilation?

Well, I did that's who.

Those lightly buttered fluffs of pure joy,
the "P",
the "O",
the "P",
...ahhhh..

These 10 ladies
have come to accept the twisted little world
that I call my own and gladly play along.

Why, just today, I got called twisted.
What is it with people?
Maybe their lives are twisted
and I'm the poster child for "normal."
Did you ever think of that?
No answer necessary.

So, thank you ladies
for making me a part of your normal world.

Now, Please Pass the Popcorn!

After seeing those pictures,
I am in a state of bliss.
Really.
But, I must move on,
because the world is cruel that way.

I'll move on to show you that the popcorn and the fun did not end.
That's what I'll do.

We made our way to the 12 seat theatre.
We were living the high life here, believe me.

We settled in and made ourselves comfortable,
some more comfortable than others with their fuzzy slippers, but nevertheless, comfortable.

First, we watched a video presentation,
produced by Tammy,
of past girl's trip.

Styles had come and gone but the friendships had remained the same.

Then we watched The Hang Over,
and giggled while Sheila announced,

"I Love You Bradley Cooper,"

oh, pretty much every 3 to 5 minutes.

Where's the usher when you need him!

Security!
S-e-cur-i-ty!

Popcorn, friends, movies, popcorn.

Yes, make mine the combo,
and pass the popcorn, please!
