Michigan U.S.A.

I have been gone for a few days on a hockey trip with my son, have you missed me? I've missed you. No, really.

We flew into Detroit on Wednesday and made our way to Flint, where I spent the next 3 days freezing, eating, driving, freezing, eating, watching hockey. It played over and over again.

After the hockey (more about that later) was all said and done, we made our way, under the watchful eye of our friend Tim, to Frankenmuth, Michigan. I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled into the town.

Who knew, Bavaria in Michigan? I immediately started snapping photos and loved every minute of my visit.

Well, I didn't love every moment.

There was the moment when I was strolling the streets snapping pictures and I slipped on black ice on a road at 10:30 at night and found myself flat on my back. Sheila was quickly at my side and placed her hand on my forehead as to check for a fever. Apparently, one gets an immediate spike in temperature when falling. She then clapped her hands 3 times and quickly commanded me to "get up," "get up!"

She brings humor to any situation! Thanks, Sheila.

Other than the goose egg on the back of my head and the sore neck I was fine. I had pictures to take. Here they are...

This is the picture I took right before my fever spike.

The Bavarian Inn. Our accommodations for the night.

A beautiful covered bridge. Not something you see everyday in the suburbs of Arizona. The covered bridge walkway.

A lamppost. Not just a lamppost, a lamppost with character.

One of the shops on Main Street.

Main Street again.

The Bavarian Inn, in the morning. The freezing morning. Look at those iced trees.

The snowy landscape. It was beautiful! It was quiet. Serene.

I recommend going to this city if you are ever in the area. Just be forewarned, watch out for black ice and IF you happen to bring your teenage son, don't be disappointed if he doesn't find the sights as spectacular as you. (he might have hockey on his mind)

Keep up the creativity!!! I give it 6 popcorn kernals out of 10.
